Museum Le Mayeur 1.JPG Museum Le Mayeur Information One of Sanur's earliest expratiate residents was the Belgian artist Adrien Jean Le Mayeur de Merpres (1880-1958), whose home has remained standing for more than seventy years and is now open to the public as Museum Le Mayeur access is via the beachfront just south of Jalan Hang Tuah in north Sanur. Le Mayeur arrived in Bali at the age of 52, and after travelling down from the north of the island chose to settle for a while in the village of Kalndis on the outskirts of Denpasar. The teenage Ni Pollok was at this time the chief legong dancer of klandis and considered by many to be the best dancer in the whole of Bali. and outstandingly beautiful young woman, she began to pose regularly for the middle age Le Mayeur. Romance blossomed, and by 1935 the two were married. The couple subsequently moved to this house on Sanur beach where he painted and she posed.
