There are losmen and hotels all over the city, but as few visitors stop for the night, we only include a small selection below. Most visitors find cakranegara the most central, convenient and pleasant place to stay.

Places to Stay – Budget
A ramshackle little homestay, Pondok Wisata Siti Hawa (singles/doubles 25.000/30.000Rp) fronts a blissful beach to the south of town and is run by a local community group. It has bammbo cottages and caters for budget travelers, offering cheap home-cooked meals.
Most of the cheapies are a little way back from the beach, including Sonya Homestay (singles/doubles 20.000/25.000Rp), a very basic, family-run losmen that has been recommended by several readers.

Places to Stay – Budget Bungalows are spread across the island, but most are concentrated on the east side.Legend Pub (thatch/concrete bungalows from 25000/60000Rp) is an old favourite, with clean rooms near the beach – it can get noisy if the pub starts rockin’.Fronting a good stretch of the Beach, Sandy Cottages (Bungalows 30000-50000Rp) has some cheap deals on its homely, little bungalows. Next door and similar in every respect, including price, is Gusung Indah.On the far northwestern coast, there are three places in a row, totally secluded from the rest of the island – but not from each other.Matahari Bungalows (basic bungalows from 25.000Rp, smarter bungalows from 50.000Rp) is the most popular, but check at the others if one is full. The other two are Bunga Bungalows and Hink Bungalows.

Most cheapies previously had no electricity or generators, so make sure you double-check they are now plugged in to the power network.Tao Kombo (bamboo platforms 20.000Rp, bungalows with fresh water 100.000Rp), with a uniqe vibe, has a guesthouse, restaurant and bar finished with a dash of French philosophy. Cheap platforms with blinds, mattres, mossie nets and safety boxes are popular with budget travelers. The bungalows are brighter and breezier than most and have fresh water.

Places to Stay – Budget The Best-value places are the newer guest-houses of the beach in the village, but pricing here is pretty arbitraty. The are literally dozens and all are close enough to investigate on foot. Some are recommended in this section, but there are plenty more decent options to choose from.Pondok Sederhana (rooms from 50.000Rp) is house-proud, woth clean rooms and little touches. Rhuma Hontu (Bungalows from 50.000Rp), on the same trip, has a leafty garden and is relaxed.Karisma Losmen (singles/doubles with fun & mandi 40.000/60.000Rp) has a slightly secluded feel thanks to the large garden. Almost next door to Karisma, Pondok Jessica (singles/doubles from 50.000/60.000Rp) is a small, well-run establishment with comfortable beds.The Rhuma Kita (singles/doubles 40.000/60.000Rp) has bungalows with artistic touches set in and among a lush garden.

There is range of accommodation in Kuta, but some places have been on the slide with fewer guest around.
Segara Anak Cottages (bungalow single/double from 30.000/35.000 Rp, rooms from 35.000/40.000Rp) has basic bungalows and better rooms. Staff are helpful and friendly and the Perama office is here for convenient travel arrangements.
Place to Stay & Eat Central Lombok

There is a string of small, friendly losmen along the two main roads, but they tend to go into hibernation when few tourists are around.
Four places sit next to each other along the northern road and offer standard accommodation almost identical in price (25.000/35.000 Rp for singles/doubles).
