Most bars are free to enter, and often have special drink promotions and ‘happy hours’ between about 6pm and 9pm. During the low season, when tourist members are down, you might have to visit quite a few venues to find one with any life.

Bars and clubs make Kuta even more popular than the other places on the island. Kuta is not just broadly popular for its Bali hotels, but also for the favorable spots to enjoy drink and music. Some bars and cafes in Kuta are free from the entrance charge, but most Bali travel goers prefer to come during “happy hours” from 18:00hrs to 21:00hrs, when the guests may savor the additional cocktails or drinks for free. Hotels in Bali also provide the bars or cafes for their guests, but some don’t, therefore visiting the clubs in Kuta area will be the right way to experience the real entertainment that makes Bali is so popular.

1.    Apache Reggae Bar – Jl. Legian 146. DJs play exclusively reggae music, open nightly from 11pm.
2.    Bagus Pub – Popies 2. Restaurant and video bar, popular whit Australians and surfers.
3.    Bounty Discotheque – Jl Legian (behind Paddy’s). The rigging, gangplanks and moat are prettily illuminated at night and the several different bars and dance floors are always packed: there are video screens and R&B on the top deck, pool tables and hard-house below deck, plus an open-air courtyard bar and stage out front. Happy hour runs from 9pm – midnight, place stay open 24hr.
4.    Deejay Café – Jl Dewi Sartika 8x, Tuban. DJs spin mainly trance and tribal underground. Open midnight – 6am.
5.    Hard Rock Café – Jl Pantai Kuta. Performances of cover songs, whit some audience participation, plus the occasional big-name appearance. Closes 2am (3am on weekends)
6.    Musro in the Discovery Hotel complex – Jl Dewi Sartika. A nightlife entertainments cenue that’s geared towards domestic and Taiwanese punters who come from the glitzy cabaret and laser show, and the karoke room. Open form 8pm.
7.    Paddy’s Pub – Jl Legian 66. Regular live music and reasonably priced beer. Happy hour daily 9-11pm, daily 11am – 4am.
8.    Tubes - Poppies 2. Hangout via the huge blue wave-wall and immerse yourself in surfing videos, surf info, surfari tour desks. Server’s cheap food and drink. Open daily 3-6pm, closes around 2am.
